Stout's Island Lodge

We have been going to Stouts since 2022 and got married there in August 2024. It was the most magical wedding weekend ever. We rented the entire island Friday - Sunday and filled it with our family and friends. It was the most memorable weekend. The food was AMAZING, staff were so kind and accommodating and everything ran smoothly. It was EXCEPTIONAL. I cannot imagine having my wedding anywhere else. This is a hidden gem! We went back for the food and wine harvest this past fall (our 2nd time) and it was even better than the prior year. The portions were huge, wine delicious and such a cute space. We even got to see the Northern lights both weekends! We have too many good things to say about Stouts. There is truly nothing like it. I saw someone say that there are no TVs in the rooms.. yes that is correct but that is part of the experience and ambiance. It’s the island of happy days to escape reality, enjoy what really matters to you (for us - spending time with family and friends, playing lawn games, enjoying meals together, playing on the lake at the swim dock, exploring, etc). I feel truly lucky to have had our wedding here and experience a historic place with family, friends and those that work here. Our family is planning to go back every year! We look forward to returning next season!

Our room was lovely and spacious, providing all the necessary amenities for a very comfortable stay. The staff was friendly, kind and helpful. Stout's Lodge is on an island and offers a very peaceful, relaxing, romantic getaway. While the food was very good, the menu was limited. The continental breakfast was appreciated as breakfast service is not available, but it was very sparse.

A great place to spend time with family and friends, or a quiet romantic getaway. Rent a pontoon boat for a day or fish and swim off the docks. Explore the island trails and play lawn games. Who knew croquet was so much fun? And the large size chess set! No TV's except in one common space.

Olivia and the staff at Stout's Island Lodge where nothing short of incredible! From the moment we were picked up on the ferry, we received 5-star service. I am already counting down the days until I return for another wedding and I will continue to rave about the friendly and helpful staff, every single one of them!

4.5 stars really! We stayed from Sunday to Wednesday and overall had a really nice time! It is a beautiful location with swimming, boating, and relaxing! The rooms were very spacious and comfortable! My only downside was I thought the food was just okay for the price. The first night was pretty good, but still over priced. The other night I really thought the food was lacking. I do appreciate that you are allowed to bring your own food so I would probably do that if/when I return. But overall we had a really good time! Staff was very nice and we had a relaxing time! I would recommend to friend and family!

The hotel is very clear that you do not go here to be entertained but to RELAX. This place was not built as a resort. We were there on Tuesday and wish we would have stayed for at least two. The lunch and dinner was excellent. Continental breakfast was adequate but nothing really special. It reeks of history and it is a great place to kayak, fish, play yard games and enjoy the sunset or fire pit. Board games and card games in library. Rest and relax is the theme. The staff was very accommodating at every point. There is a short path for hiking but very short

Very different getaway option from the same old hotels that we frequent. This resort has a lot of history built in the 1920’s. The staff is friendly and inviting and the work very hard. You can only get to the island by boat so be mindful of how much luggage you bring and is you have difficulty getting in and out of boats. The food is good but certainly could use some improvement. Put this resort on your bucket list.

Photographing weddings at Stout’s Island Lodge is such a dream. It has a nostalgic Northwoods charm you just can’t replicate anywhere else. It truly feels like a unique getaway destination rather than just a wedding venue. There’s this laid-back, joyful energy there that makes the entire wedding celebration feel different than any other wedding. It’s more intentional, more connected, more memorable. If you’re looking for something that breaks away from the traditional ballroom vibe and gives your guests an experience they’ll talk about for years, this is it!!
